2024年9月23日下午3时,香港中文大学(深圳)图书馆119互动教室,图书馆馆长葛剑雄教授为现场听众及社会各界人士带来了一场题为《中国古籍是怎样保存下来的》的讲座。葛教授以其专业视角,深入浅出地解析了中国古籍在历史长河中得以保存的关键要素。
At 3 pm on September 23, 2024, in the Interactive Classroom 119 of the Library of CUHK-Shenzhen, Professor Ge Jianxiong, the university librarian, held a lecture for audiences on-site and members of the community titled " The Preservation of Ancient Chinese Literature." With his expert perspective, Professor Ge elucidated the critical factors that have allowed the preservation of ancient Chinese classics throughout history in an accessible way.

During the lecture, Professor Ge recalled the donation ceremony of the “Confucian Classics” series earlier this month, coinciding with the opening of the Art Infinity exhibition. This collection showcases the crucial achievements in preserving ancient Chinese literature and positively contributes to the transmission of Chinese culture. This example led to a deeper exploration of ancient Chinese book preservation history.

Continuing, Professor Ge narrated a series of historical tales from the aspect of preserving texts, ranging from Fu Sheng transmitting scriptures in the Qin Dynasty to Sui Emperor Yangdi's emphasis on book duplicates, the Eighth Route Army rescuing Tripitaka texts during the war against Japanese aggression, and systematic restoration and protection of ancient books after 1949. These vivid historical cases demonstrate the difficulty and dedication involved in preserving ancient Chinese books and highlight the Chinese nation's persistence and commitment towards cultural inheritance.
