Considering if you have a chance to run the University Library...
What will you do to promote it?


Last year, the Library held a Library Marketing Competition, and the event attracted many participants. Thanks to the contributions, library staff were inspired by the marketing plans received. To raise user awareness of library functions and to practice participants’ marketing skills, the Library is going to hold another library marketing competition this year. Library looks forward to your brilliant ideas!

Theme: Library Resource Marketing
There are around 150,000 print books, 103 print periodicals, 1,404 CDs, and 2,198 DVDs in the physical collections. And there are more than 160 databases. What can be done to make more library patrons be aware of so as to use the library resources?

Timeline · 赛程安排

  • September
    Participants are required to register by group. Each group consists of 3 people.
    Professors deliver lectures on marketing onsite or record short videos on marketing.

  • November
    Preliminary round: Each group submits the marketing plan (in English, PPT file with no more than 20 slides). 6-8 groups will be selected for the final competition.
    Final competition: Each group is asked to present its plan in 10 minutes and answer questions from judges in another 5 minutes. Professors in Marketing from SME and library professionals will be invited to be judges of the final competition.

Prof. Stella Lai Man SO

Biography:
Professor Stella, So Lai Man is currently Associate Professor of Marketing and Assistant Dean of the School of Management and Economics of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. Before joining CUHK (Shenzhen), she was Associate Professor in Department of Marketing in The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shatin) since 1986 and Associate Dean for the Business School. She has extensive teaching experience in Marketing Management, Strategic Marketing, Integrated Communications, Luxury Brand Management, Business Consulting Services etc.

Prof. Qi PAN

Biography:
Dr. Qi Pan joined The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) as an assistant professor in marketing in 2020. He received his Ph.D. degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania. He received his master's degree in economics from Renmin University and bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Sun Yat-sen University. His interests lie in quantitative marketing, empirical industrial organization, econometric modeling, and big data analysis. His current research is focusing on dynamic pricing and sharing economy. In his recent research paper, he develops an empirical framework to study the pricing dynamics on Airbnb and to evaluate the impact of automated pricing, a tool that allows hosts to update their prices without manual interference. His research explores the empirical dynamic pricing problem with competition and provides insight into automated pricing features. He also studies the impact of Airbnb on the traditional rental market using the dynamic exit and entry model. The modeling methods and result in his research have rich managerial implications. In addition to dynamic pricing and sharing economy, Qi Pan is also interested in Bayesian econometrics.
