Today, we will share a vital resource for academic researchers: the Web of Science (WOS).

1.
Understanding Web of Science

Web of Science is an academic citation indexing database launched by Clarivate Analytics. It brings together a wealth of literature resources from academic journals, conference papers, patents, books, and more from around the world. With WOS, we can easily search, access, and analyze academic research achievements globally. Furthermore, with WOS's powerful analytical tools, we can better explore and understand the forefront of the academic world.

Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-EXPANDED): It includes academic papers from top-tier journals worldwide and provides the latest research achievements in various disciplines, including physics, chemistry, biology, earth sciences, and more.

Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI): It includes academic papers from globally important social science journals, covering a wide range of social science research fields, including economics, political science, psychology, education, sociology, and more.

Arts & Humanities Citation Index (AHCI): It includes academic papers from important humanities journals worldwide, providing rich literature resources for humanities research, including literature, arts, philosophy, history, religion, and more.
2.
Exploring the Core Databases of WOS

The core databases of WOS include three main parts:

These core databases cover high-quality academic journals in various disciplines, ranging from natural sciences to social sciences and humanities, encompassing research achievements in almost every field.

Moreover, WOS offers extensive coverage. In addition to journal articles, we can find documents such as conference papers, patents, and books in WOS. This diversity makes WOS a comprehensive academic resource platform, providing us with extensive research materials and information.
3.
Creating a WOS Personal Account

We can create a personal account and utilize personalized settings to make the most of WOS's features. By creating a personal account, we can save our search history, set up search alerts, bookmark important literature, and use other personalized features. This enables us to manage and organize our academic research work more efficiently.

So, how do we create a personal account? Click on the "Register" tab at the top right corner of the WOS homepage.
