- How to Search for Library ResourcesIn this session, we will cover different types of academic resources, as well as how to search for these resources in our library. At the beginning, we will learn about different resource types, including books, journal articles & conference proceedings, dissertations & theses, standards & patents, cases & datasets, newspapers & magazines, images & videos. Then we will learn how to search for both print and electronic resources in our library catalogue. In the end, we will learn database search skills such as Boolean Operators Searching, Field Searching, Proximity Operators Searching, and Truncation Searching.
- How to Gain Research Support from LibraryThis session will introduce a very useful tool LibGuides. LibGuides organizes all kinds of library resources, such as books, journals, and databases, by online guides such as Subject Guides, Course Guides and Topic Guides, in order to help patrons make use of library resources. LibGuides also provides the contact of subject librarians who build each Guide, in order to help patrons seek for assistance. The Consultation service provided by library can also establish connection between patrons and subject librarians.
- Introduction to HSS ResourcesIn this session, we will learn about Humanities & Social Sciences resources that Library has subscribed to based on Subject Guides and Course Guides in LibGuides. In the first half of the session, we will learn about resources for HSS programs- Translation Studies, Applied Psychology, Global Studies, and English Studies. In the second half of the session, we will take the course GEA2000 (Modern Chinese History and Culture) as an example, to show you how to find resources for a specific course by using LibGuides.
