We will learn about data resources that Library. This part of the resource is biased in the direction of SME.

We will introduce how to manage Citations in a research paper by EndNote & NoteExpress. In the first half of the session, we will briefly go over the knowledge of citation, including the rule of citation and major citation styles. In the second half of the session, we will focus on how to use EndNote & NoteExpress, including how to import documents from databases, how to group imported documents, and how to insert citations in Word.

We will learn how to use library resources to search for documents. As we know, before we start a research project, we need to collect a lot of documents. But how can we collect the document quickly? Let’s learn about the Web of Science, Scopus, and other ways to access library documents quickly.

Patents are a new carrier of technological innovation. In this session, we will learn patents from following three aspects: basic concepts of patents, resources for patent search and paten search methods.

Chinese Ancient Books are very useful resources for studying Chinese history, literature, politics, culture, etc. In this session, we will learn the basic classification of Chinese Ancient Books first, and then focus on how to search for Chinese Ancient Books in the library collection.

LaTeX is a document-typesetting tool, and Overleaf is an online LaTeX editing tool. In this session, we will learn how to use Overleaf to typeset documents, including how to create a document, how to format the style of texts, how to build the structure of the document, and how to type mathematical expressions. Further study guidance is also offered.

This session introduces the basic functions of Library Catalogue and databases, as well as their advantages in searching for library resources, and reaches the conclusion that Library Catalogue and databases are complementary. Supported services, Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery and Purchase Request, are also introduced.

After a differentiation between academic resources and popular resources, this session gives an overview of resource types frequently used in academic studies found in the library collection, including books & book chapters, journal articles, conference papers, theses & dissertations, etc. Resource types are introduced with examples of standardized citation format.
